The Prince and Princess of Wales wrapped up their second and final day on the Isle of Mull by joining a group of children for a forest-based learning experience alongside local rangers.
Marking their 14th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, Prince William and Princess Catherine began a short official tour of the scenic Scottish island, situated off the country’s western coast.
The final leg of their visit centered on the environment—something close to Catherine’s heart, who has often referred to nature as a source of peace and healing for her family.
While in Scotland, the royal couple are referred to as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay. One of the key stops on their itinerary was Ardura Community Forest, an important conservation site supporting the island’s rich biodiversity.
During their forest visit, William and Catherine engaged with local families who participate in outdoor education programs supported by the Royal Foundation. The Foundation’s funding ensures the continuation of ranger-led nature sessions, emphasizing the couple’s commitment to promoting hands-on environmental learning.
The visit included a scenic walk through the forest where young children took part in interactive activities. Catherine, dressed casually in a green jacket and grey jeans, connected easily with the little ones. Four-year-old Rosie-Mae, clearly excited, took the princess by the hand and led her along the trail, even sharing that she had dreamed about meeting Catherine the night before.
Rosie’s mother, Sally Maccoll, described the moment: “As soon as Kate appeared, Rosie grabbed my arm and whispered, ‘She’s here, the real princess!’ She was so confident, showing Kate around and even playing by the river. It’s a memory she’ll always hold onto.”
William, dressed in a relaxed jumper and jeans, shared smiles with children and parents. As always, football made its way into the conversation. A local father sporting an Aston Villa jersey—William’s favorite team—caught the prince’s attention, sparking a lively exchange.
Catherine also showed her playful side, using makeshift “binoculars” made from toilet rolls and helping the children identify plants and wildlife.
Later in the day, the couple boarded a public ferry bound for the nearby island of Iona for some private downtime. On arrival, they paused to pose for a photo with Ruby Wax, the comedian and mental health advocate who now resides on the island.
To celebrate their wedding anniversary, William and Catherine shared a romantic photograph on social media. Taken on Mull, it shows them walking arm-in-arm through the countryside—marking 14 years since their grand wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011, after meeting as students at the University of St Andrews.
